Treasurer's Note on "Dog License Renewal Applications":
The Chester County Treasurer's Office is scheduled to mail renewal dog license postcard notices to all dog owners in Chester County during the week of November 16, 2008.
It is important to understand that funding for this project comes directly from the State of Pennsylvania as a result of fines due to noncompliance with current dog laws.
The renewal application project is a combined effort on the parts of both the County and the PA Department of Agriculture, Bureau of Dog Law Enforcement to promote license awareness. The need for a license for all dogs over 3 months of age is a Pennsylvania state law, monitored at the local level and reported to the state on a monthly basis.
Dog licenses can be purchased at the Treasurer's Office and at other locations throughout Chester County. Click here to see a list of Outside Agents. Please note that an outside agent may charge an additional 50 cents. If purchased through the Treasurer's Office the additional fee is not required.
If you do not own a dog, or you own a dog with a current license, please disregard the renewal notice. Please remember, except for Lifetime licenses, all dogs licenses must be renewed on a yearly basis.
It is our hope that our residents see this activity truly as a public service intended to benefit all residents.
Cordially,
Alan J. Randzin
Treasurer of Chester County
