Legal Advice and Information

Frequently the Recorder of Deeds Office will receive requests from the public to draft deeds for them, determine if there are any liens against their property, or determine if a piece of land has been subdivided.  Unfortunately, the Recorder of Deeds and the staff here are not authorized to do any of the above activities, and in some instances would be committing a third degree misdemeanor if we did perform some of those services.

We can however try to provide you with some basic information about how to find these things out.

If you are trying to draft a deed or other document for recording and have the requisite authority to do so, please read the Recording Fees and Recording Guidlines sections of this site to make sure you are fulfilling the basic requirements for drafting and recording documents under Pennsylvania rules and regulations.

If you are looking for other types of information, please refer to the Getting Information section of this web site.
