Pocopson Home Is...

A Long Term Health Care Facility for adults of all ages providing professional medical, nursing and rehabilitation services.  The Facility is certified by both the Medicare and Medicaid Programs.  Private pay residents are also accepted for admission.

In addition to long term medical and nursing care services, Pocopson Home places emphasis on rehabilitation, when possible, for the purpose of returning residents to their homes and community environment.

The township and the village of Pocopson, named for the stream that flows through it came from an Indian word meaning "roaring waters."

Pocopson Home is situated among the rolling, wooded hillsides of scenic Chester County. The Home is located 2 miles north of Longwood Gardens in West Chester, PA. The facility has been county owned and operated since 1951 when the two-story West Wing building was built at our present location. During 1971 the five-story circular Jones Building was completed.

The County of Chester has a deep commitment to the care and well being of its citizens in need of long term health care services. Pocopson Home, under the auspices of the County Commissioners, exists for the purpose of answering the community need.

In 2001 the Home celebrated 50 years of dedicated service to the County.
