U.S. Army LogoTheodore William Long was born on February 28, 1907to Mr. William Wilson and Dora Nevada Parsons Long who lived, Southeast of Oxford, Pennsylvania off of Hickory Hill Rd.  His father was a farmer, and died a few years before World War II

 Theodore was one of 7 children: William Harvey, Clara Elizabeth, Louella May, Margaret Irene, Jennie Susanna, Theodore, and George Parsons.  His oldest brother, William Harvey died of wounds received in World War I.

 Theodore was schooled in a one room red brick school house on Hickory Hill Rd, which has been recently demolished for new construction.

 After schooling, Theodore worked at Paramount Nursery in Jennersville (on Rt. 796 between West Grove and Oxford), the forerunner of the famous Star Roses Nursery.

 Theodore entered the Army and after basic training was shipped overseas to the European Theater.

 Private First Class Theodore William Long was Killed In Action on August 7, 1943 in Sicily.  He was buried in a local military cemetery.

 In 1949, Theodore was returned to his home country for burial.  On Sunday June 11th he was interned in the Oxford Memorial Park Cemetery on Rt. 10, in a small family ceremony.
