U.S. Army LogoCharles A. Henck was born in 1921 to Mr. and Mrs. Edward A. Henck.  Charles was one of 10 children.  His family lived in Unionville, Pennsylvania, then moved to the Moses B. Worth Farm near West Chester, for 4 years; then moved to the Charles Young Farm on Strasburg Road and Bradford Road just west of Marshalton.

 

Charles enlisted in the Army in November 1939.  After Training he was shipped overseas and participated in the North African campaign and later the landings on Sicily and Italy, assigned to the 191st Tank Battalion.

His brother George served in an Antiaircraft unit in the South Pacific, eldest brother William was at Pearl Harbor during the Japanese attack.

Private Charles A. Henck was Killed In Action on February 19, 1944 in Italy.

Private Charles A. Henck was buried at the Sicily-Rome American Cemetery in Nettuno, Italy.
