John M. FitzpatrickJoseph M. Fitzpatrick was born in 1926 to Mr. and Mrs. John S. Fitzpatrick who lived in West Chester, Pennsylvania. 

Joseph was one of four children, including brother John, and sisters Mary A. and Teresa V. 

Joseph attended St. Agnes High School located at Gay and News streets in West Chester until November 1942 (he was in the Class of 1944).  He entered the Army in April 1944 and trained at Fort Knox, Kentucky. 

Joseph was sent overseas to the European Theater in January 1944, where he was assigned to the 3234th Ordnance Depot Company. 

Private Joseph M. Fitzpatrick Died Non Battle on May 21, 1945.  He was first reported missing, then his designation was changed. 

 

On Saturday January 19th a Solemn Requiem Mass was celebrated in honor of Joseph at St. Agnes Church.  Members of the Butler-O’Connor-McCormick Post 106 VFW and the Ladies Auxiliary attended. 

Joseph is listed on the tablets of missing in action at the Henri-Chapelle American Cemetery in Belgium. 

 

 

His brother John also served in the Army in Germany.
