The Daily Local News printed the following story on Robert on December 4, 1969.

 Robert W. Donahue Jr., a second lieutenant attached to the U.S. Army's 1st Air Cavalry Division in Vietnam, was killed on patrol near the Cambodian border last Friday about two weeks after his arrival in South Vietnam.

The 21-year-old Army officer was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert W. Donahue of 805 Hoopes Park La., West Chester.

Born in Wilmington, Lt. Donahue moved with his family about two years later to West Chester where he attended St. Agnes School. He graduated from Archmere Academy, Claymont, Del., and attended Purdue University at Lafayette, Ind., prior to his induction into the Army in May of 1968.

He attended officers candidate school at Fort Benning, Ga., and was commissioned a second lieutenant in April of this year. He arrived in South Vietnam Nov. 13 and was assigned to a base station about 11 miles from the Cambodian border.

Lt. Donahue belonged to the Phi Kappa Tau fraternity at Perdue and was a member of St. Agnes Church, West Chester.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by five sisters, Ann, wife of Dr. Leonard C. Giunta of West Chester; Mary, wife of Stephen H. O'Neill of Hammonton, N.J. and Katherine B., Patricia M. and Margaret M., all at home, and a brother, Richard F., also at home.

Funeral services will be arranged pending the arrival of Lt. Donahue's body in West Chester.

Second Lieutenant Robert William Donahue Jr. was Killed In Action on November 28, 1969 while on patrol in the Tay Ninh area of South Vietnam.

Services were held at the Reilly Funeral Home at 410 North Church Street, and celebration of a Requiem Mass at St. Agnes Church on Wednesday December 10th.

Interment was at the St. Agnes Cemetery just north of town on Route 100.
