The Dental sealants are thin protective coatings that are applied to the chewing surfaces of the premolars, first and second permanent molars to prevent decay. Most tooth decay in children and teenagers occurs on the chewing surfaces where pits and grooves tend to trap food and bacteria. Sealants fill in these pits and grooves so that bacteria cannot multiply and cause cavities. Click here for more information about dental sealants. or print the Dental Sealant Brochure from the Pennsylvania Department of Health. For more information, email Luz Garzón or call 610-344-4452. The Dental Sealant Program is sponsored and funded by the PA Department of Health Oral Health Program. Content Last Modified on 9/29/2009 11:33:28 AM |
