A Reverse 9-1-1 message will be a pre-recorded message that will identify that it is from Chester County Emergency Services.  The message will be short and will not have many details.  If information is being requested, a phone number and instructions will be provided. 

The Reverse 9-1-1 system is not intended to be an emergency alerting system.  It is a resource to get information to a large number of citizens in a short time frame.  Some examples of when the Reverse 9-1-1 system might be used are: Scam artist working a particular neighborhood, missing person, police seeking information, a long term event which may impact traffic flow.  Basically any information which could assist the police can be sent over the Reverse 9-1-1 system. 

Because Reverse 9-1-1 is not covered under the law as an emergency phone system; the phone number data is not complete.  If you have an unlisted phone number or have discontinued your wire line phone and only use a wireless phone then you are not included in the Reverse 9-1-1 data base.
