Victim: 23 month old son of accused


8. INCIDENT DETAILS


          On March 17, 2009 Ian Joseph KOHN found his 23 month old son unresponsive at his residence 4114 Hollow Road Charlestown Township and called 911 at approximately 1546 hours for an ambulance.  An ambulance transported the 23 month old male baby to Paoli Hospital.  Resuscitation efforts were unsuccessful and the 23 month old male baby was pronounced dead at 1625 hours by Deputy Chester County Coroner David Garver.

          Troopers from the Embreeville Station responded to Paoli Hospital and started an investigation into the death of KOHN’S 23 month old son.  Troopers conducted interviews and served a search warrant on Tuesday, March 17 at 4114 Hollow Rd, Charlestown Township.  As a result of the search warrant miscellaneous drugs and drug paraphernalia including syringes and methadone pills were found in the bedroom that the victim and Ian Joseph KOHN shared.

         On Wednesday, March 18, 2009 The Chester County Coroner’s office performed an autopsy and it was determined that the victim died as a result of drug intoxication after consuming a significant amount of methadone.  In addition, on March 18 Ian Joseph KOHN was incarcerated in Chester County Prison for probation violations unrelated to this investigation.

         After consultation with Chester County District Attorney Joseph Carroll charges were filed on Tuesday, March 31, 2009 against Ian Joseph KOHN charging him with Criminal Homicide, Drug Delivery Resulting in Death, and Endangering the Welfare of Children. Charges were filed with District Court 15-2-01 Magisterial District Judge Ted Michaels 347 Bridge Street Phoenixville, Pa. 19460.

       As of Tuesday, March 31, 2009 Ian Joseph KOHN remains in Chester County Prison.  No bail was granted on these charges and he will remain in Chester County Prison pending trial.

        An arrest photograph of Ian Joseph KOHN will not be released by the State Police.
