10/10/2008
Earlier today I appointed Chester County Detective Sergeant James C. Vito as acting Chief of the Detective Division of the Chester County District Attorney’s Office. Detective Sergeant Vito has thirty-three years of police experience, including three years with the West Goshen Township Police Department and thirty years as a Chester County Detective. Since 2000 acting Chief Vito was assigned as a Detective Sergeant of the Major Case Unit, responsible for supervising thirteen Detectives.
Detective Vito has a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from West Chester State College and is a June, 2004 graduate of the F.B.I. National Academy. Acting Chief Vito has also served his country as a reservist in the Coast Guard for twenty-one years, and is currently assigned as Chief Investigator with the Coast Guard Investigative Service.
Acting Chief Vito has demonstrated exceptional investigative and supervisory abilities over a long period of time. I look forward to working with him in developing the capacity of County Detectives to assist municipal police departments and protect the citizens of Chester County.
