Since July 2008 the Pennsylvania State Police, Troop J Embreeville Fire Marshal Unit, has been investigating a series of arson fires in Sadsbury Township, Chester County.
During this time there have been eleven fires that investigators determined the cause to be arson.
Nine of the arson fires involved occupied structures.
On 08/08/2008 a device was recovered at the scene of an attempted arson to an occupied residence.
On 08/22/2008 investigators received information from the Pennsylvania State Police Laboratory in Greensburg PA that DNA from the device recovered on August 8th matched DNA recovered from a suspect developed during the course of the investigation.
On 08/22/2008 Robert TRIBBETT Jr, age 24, a volunteer firefighter with the Pomeroy Fire Company, was taken into custody. TRIBBETT was charged with the attempted arson of a residence on Helen Street in Sadsbury Township, Chester County on 08/08/2008. He was arraigned and committed to Chester County Prison in lieu of $50,000.00 cash bail.
On 08/25/2008 TRIBBETT was charged with two more counts of arson and related charges stemming from the following fires:
1. On 08/15/2008 he set fire to two sheds to the rear of a residence on Valley Road in Sadsbury Township, Chester County.
2. On 08/21/2008 he set fire to an occupied house on Wallace Avenue in Sadsbury Township, Chester County.
Arraignment on the new charges is pending.
The investigation into all the fires continues.
Throughout the investigation the Pennsylvania State Police has been assisted by Sadsbury Township Police Department, Coatesville City Police Department, Chester County Fire Marshal and the Pomeroy Fire Company.
