COURTS
The Court of Common Pleas of Chester County is a general jurisdiction trial court located in West Chester, Pennsylvania. There are eleven full time judges and one senior judge. The judges hear a wide spectrum of cases, including adult and juvenile criminal prosecutions, lawsuits involving money or property, divorce, custody disputes, child support issues, adoptions, and estates. In addition to court staff and court administration, the court supervises Adult Probation, Juvenile Probation, Domestic Relations, Bail Agency, Court Reporters, and the Law Library. The Court oversees and provides administrative services to the seventeen district justice offices that comprise the District Justice system in Chester County.

Administrative Conferences - Scheduled by Judge Nagle's secretary, and are generally scheduled between 9:30am and 3pm Monday through Friday.
  
Procedure for filing Conference Memorandums
 
ADMINISTRATIVE CONFERENCE MEMOS SHOULD BE SENT SO AS TO REACH THE JUDGE AT LEAST FIVE (5) DAYS BEFORE THE SCHEDULED DATE OF THE CONFERENCE.
 
EITHER mail a hard copy OR send via FAX to 610-344-4480.  
DO NOT forward BOTH a hard copy and fax to chambers.
 
General - Judge Nagle’s secretary directly schedules requests for oral arguments, administrative conferences and settlement conferences. Civil and criminal trials are scheduled via Court Administration. Family court trials are scheduled via the Family Court Administrator.

Oral Arguments - Note that requests for Oral Arguments are first reviewed by the Pre-Trial unit and then scheduled by Judge Nagle’s secretary. Counsel will be given notice from the Judge’s Chambers as to the date and time of the Oral Argument.
 
 
Civil Trials
 
Preliminary Injunctions - scheduled on a case by case basis. Petitions for Preliminary Injunction shall first be filed with the Prothonotary and a Judge will be assigned (on a rotation); you then go to the assigned Judge for a TRO and/or hearing date. If the assigned Judge is not available due to vacation, etc., counsel may go to the Miscellaneous Judge for TRO; a hearing will be scheduled by the Miscellaneous Judge (to be heard by the assigned Judge).
 
Continuances - in civil cases will only be granted on written motion or petition pursuant to Pa. R.C.P. 216.  Contact Chambers for a copy of the preferred form. Continuances in Family Court cases will only be granted on written motion or petition pursuant to C.C.R.C.P. 1920.72A and the form of continuance is C.C.R.C.P. 1930.1.A.  Counsel are not to courtesy copy the judge on petitions/motions, etc., unless the rules of court specifically direct counsel to do so.
 
Bail Hearings - Contact Court Administration for scheduling of bail hearings; Court Administration will then coordinate with Judge Nagle's secretary for a mutually convenient date for a hearing within 5 days of request.
 
CRIMINAL CALL OF THE LIST – All counsel and unrepresented defendants are required to appear at the Call of the List.  Counsel who fail to appear at the Call of the Criminal List will have his/her case scheduled for trial and subsequent requests for continuance WILL NOT BE GRANTED.
 
Guilty Pleas - Scheduled any time. Call Judge's Chambers for a special listing.
 
Violations of Probation - In most cases, violation hearings involving prisoners are done by video link to the prison. Call Judge's Chambers directly if you feel special circumstances apply.
