Administrative Conferences - Scheduled by Judge Sarcione's secretary, and are generally scheduled on a case-by-case basis.
Procedure for filing Conference Memorandums
ADMINISTRATIVE CONFERENCE MEMOS SHOULD BE SENT SO AS TO REACH THE JUDGE AT LEAST THREE (3) DAYS BEFORE THE SCHEDULED DATE OF THE CONFERENCE. IF THEY CANNOT BE SENT BY THAT TIME, THEY SHOULD BE BROUGHT TO THE CONFERENCE.
EITHER mail a hard copy OR send via FAX to 610-344-5596.
DO NOT forward BOTH a hard copy and fax to chambers.
General - Judge Sarcione's secretary schedules requests for administrative conferences, settlement conferences, minor's compromise hearings, oral arguments, and juvenile expungement hearings. Civil trials are scheduled via Court Administration. At any time prior to a civil trial listing, counsel may request a pre-trial conference or a settlement conference by contacting the Judge's secretary. All conferences regarding criminal matters are scheduled by Judge Sarcione's secretary. Court Administration schedules all criminal trials. Any questions concerning trial listings should be directed to the Court Administrator's Office at 610-344-6121.
Oral Arguments - PLEASE NOTE, the method for requesting oral argument in civil cases has changed. See C.C.R.C.P. No. 211.1. IN ALL CIVIL CASES, WHETHER OR NOT TO SCHEDULE ORAL ARGUMENT IS OPTIONAL WITH THE COURT. The former practice of noting "Oral Argument Requested" on a praecipe for determination or other document is no longer sufficient to constitute a request for oral argument. Requests for oral argument must be made in accordance with C.C.R.C.P. No. 211.1. Pursuant to that rule, the request must state the reason why oral argument will be helpful to the court and that reason will be evaluated in deciding whether or not to schedule oral argument.
Preliminary Injunctions - scheduled on a case by case basis. Petitions for Preliminary Injunction shall first be filed with the Prothonotary and a Judge will be assigned (on a rotation); you then go to the assigned Judge for a TRO and/or hearing date. If the assigned Judge is not available due to vacation, etc., counsel may go to the Miscellaneous Judge for TRO; a hearing will be scheduled by the Miscellaneous Judge (to be heard by the assigned Judge).
Bail Hearings - Contact Court Administration for scheduling of bail hearings; Court Administration will then coordinate with Judge Sarcione's secretary for a mutually convenient date for a hearing within 5 days of request.
Guilty Pleas - Scheduled any time. Call Judge's Chambers for a special listing.
Violations of Probation - In most cases, violation hearings involving prisoners are done by video link to the prison. Call Judge's Chambers directly if you feel special circumstances apply.
