Mission Statement

Goals and Objectives

Goals

Administrative Services

To provide continued administrative services with the existing support staff through technology and training initiatives instituted in mid FY 2002. These initiatives will allow the transference of record checks to support staff within the District Attorney’s Office.

Criminal Investigation

To continue a high level of competence and skill in providing investigation services while obtaining essential training in the areas of computer crime, identity theft and terrorism to address potential changes in the nature of criminal incidents within Chester County.

Examination of Forensic Evidence

To continue existing levels of service while increasing our skill levels and technology so extensive crimes scenes can be completed in shorter time periods. We believe this initiative will greatly assist to reduce overtime expenditures when the forensic duties are deployed during non-business hours. We have also utilized the services of the West Chester University summer intern program to augment the full-time staff while providing valuable on-hands instruction to undergraduate students.

Primary objectives are:

  • To transfer the majority of record checks responsibility to the District Attorney’s Office through the use of J-NET technology in order to allow the department to focus on the increased number of bench warrants and begin a focused intelligence sharing project with state and federal law enforcement agencies.

  • To use the Detectives Automated Report Tracking System to increase productivity toward efficient management of existing personnel.

  • To enhance the quality of crime detection capabilities with the 2 crimescopes purchased through the AFIS grant.
