King of Prussia - Motorists traveling on Route 202 in West Goshen Township, Chester County will face ramp and lane closures this weekend for the ongoing $19.3 million project to improve Route 202 between the Route 100 and High Street interchanges, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation announced today.
From 10 p.m. Friday (July 30) to 5 a.m. Monday (Aug. 2), the Westtown Road on-ramp to Route 202 North and the Route 202 South off-ramp to Westtown Road will be closed and detoured for the removal and replacement of deteriorated concrete pavement.
Motorists are advised to follow the posted detours:
- Westtown Road on-ramp to Route 202 North :
The posted detour will follow Westtown Road to Route 3 East (Market Street) to Paoli Pike to Route 202 North.
- Route 202 South off-ramp to Westtown Road:
The posted detour will take southbound Route 202 traffic to the Skiles Boulevard jug handle, where drivers will then turn left to get on Route 202 North and follow Route 202 North to the Westtown Road off-ramp.
In addition, from 10 p.m. Friday (July 30) to 5 a.m. Sunday (Aug. 1), northbound Route 202 will be reduced to one lane between Westtown Road and Paoli Pike for concrete patching.
PennDOT advises drivers to allow additional time for travel along Route 202 during construction because backups will occur. These operations are weather dependent.
The road construction on Route 202 is part of PennDOTs $19,377,081 project to rehabilitate and improve 4.3 miles of Route 202 between the Route 100 Interchange and High Street in Chester County. The project is funded through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
Allan A. Myers, LP of Worcester, Montgomery County is the general contractor on the federally-funded project, which is scheduled to finish in Dec. 2011.
PennDOT reminds motorists they can log on to 511pa.com or call 511 from any phone to check traffic conditions on major highways before heading out.
