Mission Statement

To manage the overall communications program for Chester County government, both internally for employees and externally for the citizens of the community.

As a member of the Commissioner’s staff, the Public Information Officer (PIO) is responsible for the release of accurate and timely information to insure the public is well-informed on the services, accomplishments and initiatives of Chester County government. The PIO manages the internal communications program of county government to insure that employees are well informed of policies, procedures, and events relevant to the county’s business.

The Public Information Office is committed to educating the public on the responsibilities, functions, and services of their county government organizations. It is the goal of the PIO to foster a positive image and comprehensive understanding of the organization, and to promote its initiatives and achievements.

Goals and Objectives

• To work closely with the news media to inform them of significant developments in county business or policies and respond to requests for information.

• To improve the overall effectiveness of the organization by developing a sense of teamwork and synergy with the county’s employees.

• To serve as a conduit for the public to ask questions and get answers to county-related issues.

• To seek ways to build employee morale and to encourage an understanding that every citizen is to be treated like a loyal customer.

• To continue to focus on improving the visibility of more innovative and significant accomplishments of departments and individual employees.
