LOCATION

Nottingham County Park, 150 Park Road, Nottingham, PA 19362. West Nottingham Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania. Located six miles south of Oxford, PA, off U.S. Route 1, just above the Maryland State Line in southwestern Chester County. ENTERTAINMENT

Test your balance on the swiveling {ladder} Jacob's Ladder. For more thrill and excitement, twist and spin on The Orbotron. Designed by a former NASA engineer, your body movements send the Orbotron flipping and spinning, swirling, twirling and whirling in all directions. NASA has learned the power and joy of this machine and so will you!

Give & Take Jugglers - 6:00 - 7:15pm

The spirit of Chautauqua, the variety of vaudeville. See impressive juggling, comedy and lots of audience participation. The jugglers use an antique calliope, traditions from vaudeville, circus arts, theatre and music to create a lively and wholesome show that feels fresh and contemporary.

 

At 7:30pm, Wildfire Country Rock Band appears on the main stage for a country concert. Wildfire is the back up band for country pop celebrity {wildfire} Ronnie Dove, whom the band travels with throughout the United States. Lead vocalist, Garrick Alden has performed at the Grand Old Oprey and is most known for the theme song to the hit TV show "Friday Night Lights".

Herr Snack Trucks and "Chipper" will distribute free snacks from 5:00pm until dark. Grab a sample of new products.


Free hayrides are available from 6:00 - 8:00pm. 


Make sure to get your patriotic gear, glow necklaces, flashing novelties and T-shirts. Vendors operate 5:00pm until dark.

 

FIREWORKS

Fireworks begin approximately 9:45pm. Following a brief welcome by County officials, Schaefer Pyrotechnics, Strasburg, PA, will shoot the Freedom Fest display.

Experience a 30-minute spectacular show of surprises and ground displays set to patriotic tunes. The grand finale incorporates the traditional raising of the American flag above the fields of Nottingham County Park.

 

PARKING/ ADMISSION FEES

$10 parking fee at Nottingham County Park and Herr’s Corporate Center.  There is no admission fee. Gates open at 4:00pm. Shuttles from parking areas to the event field run 5:00 - 9:15pm.

AMENITIES

Field seating is available for the concert and fireworks. Early arrival is encouraged, as well as blankets and lawn chairs. No canopies permitted. Restrooms, including accessible facilities, are immediately adjacent to the event field. Paved roadways make transportation of strollers and children’s wagons more manageable.

FOOD

From sandwiches to funnel cakes to smoothies, vendors feature festival style foods, or you may bring a picnic of your own menu items. Alcohol is prohibited. PLEASE BE ADVISED THAT, FOR SECURITY PURPOSES, ALL COOLERS, TOTE BAGS AND OTHER SIMILAR ITEMS ARE SUBJECT TO BEING CHECKED. Food vendors are open 5:00pm - 11:00pm.

 

RAIN PLAN

In the event that weather prohibits the set-up or safe shooting of the fireworks show, Freedom Fest will be postponed to Sunday, July 4. Passing showers or storms may delay the July 3 show. However, circumstances may force us to make a late postponement, or forego early festivities while still allowing the main fireworks show to continue. Parking/ rain vouchers will be distributed at both parking locations. 

 

RESTRICTIONS

Pets and canopies are not permitted in the Freedom Fest viewing field. Alcohol is strictly prohibited. Coolers and similar items are subject to being checked. Chester County Real Estate Rules and Regulations apply.

 

TRAVEL TO/ FROM FREEDOM FEST

Plan to arrive early! In cooperation with West Nottingham Township officials, parking plans and road restrictions will be in effect. The event traditionally attracts +/- 10,000 visitors, so leave plenty of time for travel and expect delays upon exiting.

 

Nottingham County Park and Herr Foods, Inc., are located off the Route 272 Exit off U.S. Route 1, in West Nottingham Township. From that intersection, road signs will direct you to parking areas at either Nottingham County Park or Herr Foods and back out at the conclusion of the event. 

 

All roads to Freedom Fest close at 9:15pm! 

 

As of 3:00pm, Old Baltimore Pike and Park Road, which lead directly to Nottingham County Park, will be one-way between Herr Drive and Cemetery Road.

 

At 5:00pm, Old Baltimore Pike and Park Road will close to all private vehicle traffic. After 5:00pm, vehicles may access the park via Cemetery Road until all spaces are occupied, or park at the Herr's Corporate Center on Herr Drive and take a shuttle to the park.

PARKING

Two parking areas are available. From both parking locations, shuttles to the event field begin operating at 5:00pm. Your choice shall depend on the number and ages of people in your party, and the amount of gear you are managing. The program attracts approximately 10,000 visitors, plan to arrive early and expect delays upon exiting.

 

ALL ROADS TO FREEDOM FEST CLOSE AT 9:15pm! At the Rte 272/ Rte 1 exit, signs are posted to direct you to your choice of parking areas:

 

1. Nottingham County Park

You will be directed to the west side of the park.  A brief walk through the park leads to the event field. For those who find the walk difficult, internal shuttles are provided. You cannot access the field to drop off anything before parking. When the event concludes, please return directly to your vehicle to exit. The park will be illuminated from the event field to the parking area.

 

2. Herr’s Corporate Center Parking/Shuttle Bus

Located approximately one mile from the park. You may take a shuttle bus directly to the event field. Shuttles run from 5:00 - 9:15pm. Pets are not permitted on shuttle buses. Buses head back to the Center immediately following the conclusion of the fireworks. 

 

Note: Upon exiting, you may experience a lengthy wait to catch a shuttle back to the parking areas.   

 

Disabled Parking: Available at both locations. Please inform parking personnel of your situation.

ARRIVING:  Beginning at 3:00pm, vehicle traffic is one way from the intersection of Herr Drive/ Old Baltimore Pike to the intersection of Park Road/ Cemetery Road. Beginning at 5:00pm, this section is closed to all vehicle traffic except event shuttle buses. There are two parking areas:

 

PARKING AREA 1 – General Parking in Nottingham County Park

 

PARKING AREA 2 – Shuttle Bus Parking at Herr’s Corporate Center

 

EXITING: When exiting Herr’s Shuttle Parking, you will be directed back to Herr Drive to Route 272.  When exiting Nottingham County Park, you cannot turn right to use Park Road. It is restricted for shuttle buses and emergency vehicles. You have two options: 1) From the service road gate, you must go straight across to Cemetery Road and may follow this to Route 272 near the Route 1 interchange. 2) From the event parking entrance, you must turn left and may follow Township roads to Route 1. This is approximately a three-mile trip, but generally less congested than the Cemetery Road exit. Cemetery Road between Glen Roy and Park Road will remain closed until midnight.
