Frequently Asked Questions

If a program is in a waiting list what does that mean?

Programs through the Dept of Aging sometimes have a waiting list because the program has reached its funding allotment to allow more people into the program. If a person is on the waiting list it means that they were assessed and given a score based on the amount of care they need. People are put on the waiting list according to their score. An individual’s spot on the waiting list can vary from day to day as we continue to assess additional people for services.

Does a senior have to serve jury duty?

According for the Courts website: "Pennsylvania law does not exclude persons due to their age. However, Chester County is liberal with excusing senior citizens upon written request for good reason."

What does a care manager do?
A care manager acts as a liaison between the consumer and the agency care provider.  When an individual is open to one of our programs, a care manager is assigned to work with and advocate for the consumer.

How can I receive in-home services through PDA Waiver, Family Caregiver Support Program, or Options?
1. Contact our office and make a referral.
2. Schedule appointment to be assessed.
3. During assessment, the individual must be willing to provide medical and financial information to the department.
4. Based on the information gathered at assessment, our office will be able to determine what program you may qualify for, and if you will need to pay for a portion of the services.
