Services
On site drug testing is supplemented by laboratory analysis to determine drug abuse by offenders. Offenders are routinely tested for controlled substances as a means to monitor compliance as well as to determine need for treatment services.
The department uses hand-held breathalyzers to perform alcohol testing.
Electronic Monitoring
The department is responsible for administering an electronic home monitoring program. Participants are Court ordered to be monitored as a condition of probation, parole or intermediate punishment. The purpose of the program is to structure, curtail and monitor the defendant’s activity through the establishment of a curfew, which is enforced through electronic means. The department also provides a twenty-four hour on call service for notification of violations of the electronic monitoring program.
